Stone Ruins of New Lebanon, New York

On an Eastern slope overlooking the Shaker Swamp of New Lebanon, a grouping of unusual stone ruins sits by a stream along an old path that rises up the hill. A number of researchers including historians, archeologists, preservationists and Native American representatives have come together to form a collaborative team in an unprecedented way for historical research in Columbia County. Combining the knowledge of their several disciplines, they explore this enigmatic site that may represent some of the earliest cultural use of the rich environmental resources that are found in the Medicinal Wetlands and surrounding landscapes of the Lebanon Valley.
